What it is and what it does
Mains water pressure is nowhere near enough to push water through an RO membrane, so every domestic purifier has a small DC pump between the pre-filters and the membrane. This is that pump, sized for a 100 GPD membrane. It runs on 24 volts DC, draws about 1.10 amps, delivers up to 140 PSI and moves 1.5 litres a minute. The armature is 36 mm.
Its job is pressure, not flow. The membrane rejects salt only when the pressure across it is high enough to overcome the osmotic pressure of the feed, and that requirement climbs with TDS. A pump that cannot reach that pressure leaves the membrane producing less water and rejecting less salt, whatever the membrane's rating says.
What it fits, and what it does not
It fits a domestic RO purifier that already runs its pump from a 24 V DC adapter; check that the existing adapter is 24 V DC and rated comfortably above the pump's 1.10 A draw before wiring it in. Compare the armature and body size with the pump you are removing, and keep the existing pressure-switch and fittings in the circuit as they are.
It does not fit a purifier with a mains-AC pump, and it is not sized for commercial plants that run far more than 100 GPD. It is also not the answer if the pump is fine and the problem is elsewhere: a blocked sediment cartridge makes a healthy pump strain and sound tired.
When to choose it
Choose it in two situations. The pump in your purifier has failed, or you are moving to a 100 GPD membrane and the pump you have was built for 50 or 80 GPD. In the second case the pump and the 100 GPD membrane are a pair; fit the membrane alone and output falls rather than rises.
Do not buy it on a schedule. Pumps are replaced on failure, not on a calendar, and a pump that is quiet and filling the tank owes you nothing. Do not buy it for an 80 GPD membrane on a healthy standard pump either; the membrane cannot use the extra pressure.
What goes wrong if you pick the wrong pump
Under-pump a 100 GPD membrane and the purifier makes less water than before the upgrade, with more going to drain; the membrane gets the blame. Replace a pump that was actually fine, because a clogged sediment stage made it noisy, and the noise comes back with the new pump a week later. Check the cartridges before condemning the pump.
When to replace it, and the symptom
On failure only. The signs are a rising whine or a rattle where there used to be a steady hum, or the pump running while the tank does not fill. Before ordering, change or at least inspect the sediment cartridge, because silt starving the pump produces the same symptoms and costs ₹190 to fix instead of ₹1,299.
Which LUXGEN parts it works with
It is built for the 100 GPD 1812 membrane and the 100 GPD molded high-TDS membrane, which needs the pressure most on 2000-plus ppm water. It will also drive the 80 GPD membrane without complaint if it is simply replacing a failed standard pump. Keep the sediment stage fresh, Universal or Branded-Fit, so the pump is not working against a clogged cartridge.
