Reverse osmosis filter replacement cost: every part, its price, and how often it goes.

Sediment, carbon, membrane, pump, pre-filter candle, housing. Each has a listed price on this site and an interval on the schedule. Here they are in one table, then what they add up to in a year.

Every part, priced

Prices are the current listed prices on this site, linked so you can check them. Intervals are from the filter change schedule. Your water moves the intervals, and the symptoms in that guide override the calendar.

Why the carbon cartridge has two prices

Every part in the table is one part at one price except the cartridges, which come in two fits. Branded-Fit cartridges are cut to the dimensions of the housings that the large purifier brands use; Universal-Fit cartridges are the standard 10-inch size that most other housings take. The media inside is the same: wound polypropylene in the sediment cartridge, coconut-shell carbon in the carbon block. The sediment cartridge is ₹190 in either fit. The carbon cartridge is ₹250 in Branded-Fit and ₹220 in Universal-Fit, and that ₹30 is the whole difference between the two rows.

What matters is buying the one that seats. A cartridge that is a few millimetres too long will not let the housing close; one that is too short lets water bypass it, which is worse, because the purifier runs as if it were filtering when it is not. Look at the cap of the housing, not the bowl: the fit guide shows what to measure, and each product page lists the dimensions. If you are not sure, the sediment cartridge is the cheaper place to find out.

What is not on the list

A domestic purifier has a few more parts this site does not list: the UV lamp, the inline post-carbon cartridge, the UF membrane, the mineral or copper stage, the adapter, the float and the solenoid. Their prices depend on the make, so no figure is given here; as a market figure, the lamp and the inline cartridges are typically a few hundred rupees each, and it varies. If your machine's cartridges are sealed, brand-specific units rather than standard 10-inch parts, the prices above do not apply to it, and the fit guide explains how to tell which kind you have.

What it adds up to in a year

Count what goes in a normal year. On municipal supply: one sediment, one carbon, half a membrane. On borewell water: one and a half to two sediments, one carbon, two-thirds of a membrane.

Parts per year, at the prices above
SupplySedimentCarbonMembrane shareYear total
Municipal₹190₹220 to ₹250₹325 to ₹450 (₹650 to ₹900 ÷ 2)₹735 to ₹890
Borewell₹285 to ₹380₹220 to ₹250₹433 to ₹600 (₹650 to ₹900 ÷ 1.5)₹940 to ₹1,230

Add the pump when it fails, ₹1,299, and the pre-filter candle if you have a bowl, ₹150 or ₹259 for two. The running cost guide adds the lamp, the electricity and the reject water on top of this to reach a total cost of ownership, and the AMC guide sets the parts figure against a service contract.

The dearest part, and what protects it

The membrane is between ₹650 and ₹900, and everything else in the chain exists to keep it alive. Silt through a spent sediment cartridge blinds it; chlorine through a spent carbon cartridge attacks the polyamide film and takes its rejection permanently. A ₹190 cartridge changed on time is the cheapest membrane insurance there is. The membrane replacement guide covers the symptoms, and the RO output TDS guide the reading that confirms them.

Before you order

Three checks. First, the fit: a Branded-Fit cartridge and a Universal-Fit cartridge carry the same media in different dimensions, and the wrong one will not seat; the fit guide has the measurements. Second, the membrane rating: an 80 GPD on a standard pump, a 100 GPD only where the pump can drive it, which the 80 vs 100 GPD guide explains, and the molded membrane on feed above 2000 ppm. Third, the date: write it on the housing when the new part goes in, so the next replacement is a decision and not a guess. Orders are placed on DraQua from each product page.

Questions

How much does it cost to replace RO filters?

At LUXGEN's listed prices: sediment cartridge ₹190, carbon cartridge ₹220 to ₹250, RO membrane ₹650 to ₹900, booster pump ₹1,299, pre-filter candle ₹150 or ₹259 for a pair, and a pre-filter housing kit ₹499 or ₹899 with candles. Every price is linked to its product page.

How often do RO filters need replacing?

Sediment every 6 to 8 months on borewell water and up to 12 months on municipal supply; carbon up to 12 months; membrane 18 to 24 months; pump when it fails. Symptoms such as slow flow, a chlorine taste or rising output TDS override the calendar.

What is the yearly cost of RO filter replacement?

Counting the parts listed here, roughly ₹735 to ₹890 a year on municipal supply and ₹940 to ₹1,230 on borewell water, with the membrane cost spread over its life. Add ₹1,299 whenever the pump fails, and the UV lamp and inline cartridges at market prices.
