What it is and what it does
The Aura is the storage purifier. It runs the same three-stage core as the rest of the range, RO for dissolved salts, UV for disinfection, UF for fine particles, and it adds a TDS controller so the output is not stripped completely flat. What it does differently is hold 12 litres of purified water, half as much again as the Royale's 8 and a third more than the Curve's 9.
That number matters more than it looks. A purifier makes water slowly and you drink it in bursts: cooking, a jug for the table, bottles for school. A bigger tank means the unit is almost never caught empty, and it means there is drinking water in the house through a power cut or a dry tap. The Aura sits on a wall or on the counter, whichever your kitchen has room for.
What it fits, and what it does not
It fits either a wall bracket or a counter-top, which makes it the easiest of the three to place in a rented kitchen where drilling is a problem. It needs a mains socket and a plumbed inlet. The supply can be municipal or borewell; the RO stage handles ordinary high-TDS water, and the controller manages taste.
It does not suit a very small household. Two people drinking three or four litres a day will leave 12 litres standing for days, and stored water is better drunk fresh. For that home the Curve's 9 litres, with a UV-protected tank, is the better match. It also does not have a copper stage, so if copper enrichment is the reason you are buying, this is not the model.
When to choose it over the Royale or the Curve
Choose the Aura for a family of four or more, for a home that cooks with purified water, or for any kitchen where the tap or the power is unreliable and a buffer of stored water is worth having. Choose it, too, if counter-top placement is a must, since the Royale is wall-only.
Do not choose it if what you actually want is control over taste; only the Royale describes its TDS controller as adjustable. And if the extra tank is not needed, the Curve does the same RO + UV + UF job and keeps its stored water under UV.
What goes wrong if you pick the wrong purifier
The two mistakes are mirror images. Buy an 8 litre or 9 litre machine for a large family and the tank runs dry at dinner while everyone waits for it to refill. Buy the 12 litre Aura for a couple and the water in the tank is a week old before it is finished. Neither is dangerous; both are annoying enough that people stop using the purifier. Size the tank to the household, not to the discount.
What to replace, and when
Consumables follow the same schedule as every RO purifier: sediment cartridge at 6 to 8 months on borewell water and up to 12 on municipal, carbon cartridge up to 12 months, membrane at 18 to 24 months. Because the Aura stores so much, the tell-tale for a tired membrane is your TDS meter rather than the flow: read the output the day a membrane goes in, and change it when that reading has roughly doubled.
Which LUXGEN parts it works with
For membrane replacement the 80 GPD 1812 membrane is the default; step up to the 100 GPD only if the pump in your unit is rated for it, and to the molded high-TDS membrane if feed exceeds 2000 ppm. A wall-mounted pre-filter ahead of the Aura, such as the two-candle housing kit, keeps silt off the internal cartridges on borewell supply.
