LUXGEN Royale Copper

What it is and what it does

The Royale Copper is the top of the three LUXGEN purifiers and the only one with copper. Feed water goes through sediment and carbon pre-filtration, then the RO membrane takes out dissolved salts, the UV lamp disinfects, and the UF stage catches fine particles that got past everything else. After that, a copper enrichment cartridge adds a trace of copper back into the water for taste.

The part that separates it from the Aura and the Curve is the adjustable TDS controller. RO output on its own is very low in minerals and tastes flat. The controller blends a set amount of filtered, non-RO water back in, so you decide how the water tastes rather than accepting whatever the membrane produces. The tank holds 8 litres and refills at 15 litres an hour, with a smart LED panel showing purifying, tank-full and power status.

What it fits, and what it does not

It is a wall-mounted unit, 410 × 260 × 520 mm, so you need a wall that can carry it full of water, a power point within reach, and a plumbed inlet from the kitchen tap or an overhead line. Unlike the Aura and the Curve, there is no counter-top option; if you have no suitable wall, choose one of those two instead.

On water quality it is at its best on high or seasonal-TDS supply: borewell, tanker, or a municipal line that drifts upward every summer. The adjustable controller is exactly what that water needs. It is not the right machine for very low TDS water, under about 150 ppm. RO would strip what little mineral is there, and you would spend the whole time fighting flat taste with the controller. For that water a UV purifier is the honest recommendation.

When to choose it over the Aura or the Curve

Choose the Royale when you want copper, when you want to set the output taste yourself, or when your feed TDS moves around through the year. It is the purifier for a hard-water household that has been disappointed by flat-tasting RO water before.

Do not choose it just for capacity. The Aura holds 12 litres to the Royale's 8, and it also has a TDS controller, just not one described as adjustable. If the tank size matters more than copper, the Aura wins. If you want the simplest RO + UV + UF machine with a UV-protected tank and no copper stage, the Curve costs less to keep and does the job.

What goes wrong if you pick the wrong purifier

Fit a Royale on a soft municipal supply and you have paid for a copper stage and a controller you will rarely touch. Fit a Curve on 900 ppm borewell water because it was cheaper and you get fully RO-stripped water with no way to bring the taste back, which is the single most common reason families stop drinking from their purifier. The mistake is not the machine; it is matching it to the wrong water. Test your TDS before you decide.

What to replace, and when

The purifier is a set of consumables around a membrane. On borewell water the sediment cartridge goes at 6 to 8 months, on municipal water up to 12; the carbon cartridge up to 12 months; the RO membrane at 18 to 24 months. The symptom for the membrane is output TDS creeping up on your meter, or the tank refilling noticeably slower than 15 litres an hour used to feel. Which LUXGEN parts it works with

At membrane change, LUXGEN's 1812 TFC membranes fit most domestic RO purifiers: the 80 GPD for a standard pump, the 100 GPD if the pump can drive it, and the molded high-TDS membrane for feed above 2000 ppm. Confirm the membrane housing size in your unit before ordering. For the wall-mounted pre-filter ahead of the purifier, the housing bowl kit or the two-candle kit are the two options, refilled with the sediment cartridges in the range.
