What it is and what it does
The larger of the two pre-filter kits: a wall-mounted housing bowl that takes full-length 10-inch cartridges, supplied with two PP spun candles, plus the elbows, pipe and spanner to fit it. It goes between the tap and the purifier and takes the silt load off the purifier's own cartridges. At 960 grams it is a heavier bowl than the 9-inch kit, and it carries a published rating for feed water up to 2000 ppm.
Two candles in the box means the first change is already on the shelf. Because the bowl takes 10-inch cartridges, it has a plain cap, the type that presses down on the cartridge to seal it, and that fact decides everything about what refills it.
What it fits, and what it does not
It fits ahead of any domestic purifier plumbed with standard RO tubing; the elbows and pipe are included. Its refills are 10-inch cartridges: the spun pack of two is the direct match, and the Universal-Fit wound cartridge should fit the same plain-cap bowl.
It does not take the 9-inch threaded candle; with no socket in the cap there is nothing for it to screw into. And it is rated to 2000 ppm: on feed water above that, the kind that needs the molded high-TDS membrane, check the housing rating before relying on this one, and read the TDS guide on pre-softening.
When to choose it over the bowl kit
Choose the PFK-2C when the water is silty enough that a 10-inch spun cartridge's holding capacity is worth having, when you want a spare candle from day one, or when the bowl you are replacing was a plain-cap 10-inch type. It costs ₹400 more than the PFH-10 and its refills cost about ₹130 a cartridge in the pack of two.
Choose the PFH-10 instead for the lowest entry price, for a like-for-like swap of a threaded-cap bowl, or where the ₹150 candle is the running cost you prefer.
What goes wrong if you pick the wrong kit
Refill this plain-cap bowl with a 9-inch threaded candle and it sits an inch short, held by nothing, while water bypasses it and silt reaches the purifier as if the bowl were not there. Run it on 2500 ppm feed without checking the rating and you are outside what it is specified for. Neither mistake announces itself; both cost a membrane later.
When to replace it, and the symptom
The bowl lasts until it cracks or its thread strips. The candles go at 6 to 8 months on borewell water, up to 12 on municipal, on the usual signs: slower flow at the purifier and a cartridge browned through most of its length. Fit the spare, order the next pack, and the cycle continues.
